Emigo Privacy Policy
Last updated: 10 October 2026
Emigo is a photo-sharing application that displays photos from your friends on your home screen widget. This policy describes what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices and rights available to you.
Emigo does not sell your personal data and does not use analytics or behavioural-tracking software. On Android, people without Emigo Gold can choose to watch rewarded ads (provided by Google AdMob) to unlock certain features; Emigo Gold members never see ads. See Advertising below for exactly what this involves.
Who we are
For any privacy-related question or request, please contact us at emigohq@gmail.com.
Information we collect
Information you provide
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Email address | To create and secure your account, and to help you recover access to it. |
| Username and display name | So friends can find you and identify who sent a photo. |
| Password | To authenticate you. Your password is stored only as a one-way cryptographic hash; we never store or have access to the password itself. |
| Profile photo (optional) | Displayed to your friends within the app. |
| Photos and captions you send | To deliver them to the friends you choose. A caption is embedded in the image itself. |
Information generated through your use of Emigo
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Your friend connections and friend requests | To maintain your friends list and deliver photos to the correct people. |
| Streaks and photo-exchange history | To calculate streaks between you and each friend. |
| Saved recipient lists and pinned friends | Shortcuts you create yourself for choosing who to send to. |
| Which photos you have viewed, and when you last opened Activity | To display unread indicators accurately. |
| Blocks and reports you submit | To enforce blocking choices and to review reported content. |
Technical information
| Data | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Push notification token | A device identifier issued by Google Firebase, used solely to deliver notifications about photos and streaks to your device. |
| IP address | Used temporarily to limit sign-in attempts and prevent abuse of the service. It is not linked to your account or retained long-term. |
| Purchase and subscription status | If you purchase Emigo Gold, we record your subscription status to confirm your purchase and unlock paid features. |
| Record that you watched a rewarded ad | When you watch an ad to restore a streak, Google tells our server that the ad was completed. We keep that record (your internal account identifier, the friendship it was for, and a time) only long enough to confirm the restore, and delete it after about 7 days. |
What we do not collect
- Your location.
- Your contacts or address book.
- Analytics or behavioural tracking. (Google's advertising software, used only to show ads to people without Emigo Gold, reads your device's advertising ID itself when you watch an ad; Emigo does not receive it. See Advertising.)
- Payment card details — purchases are processed entirely by Google Play, and we never receive or store your card information.
Camera and photo access
Emigo requests camera permission so that you can take photos to send. If you subscribe to Emigo Gold, or watch rewarded ads to send a moment, you may also choose photos from your device gallery; in that case, Emigo receives only the specific photos you select. Emigo does not scan, read, or upload the contents of your photo library.
How we share information
We share personal data only with service providers that are necessary to operate the app, and only to the extent required for them to perform their function. Apart from Google's advertising service (described under Advertising), these providers are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes.
| Category | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Cloud storage provider | Stores the photo files you send within the app. |
| Google Firebase (Cloud Messaging and Remote Config) | Delivers notifications to your device, and supplies the app with its settings, such as the rules for rewarded ads. |
| Payment processor (Google Play Billing) | Processes Emigo Gold purchases and confirms them to us. |
| Advertising provider (Google AdMob) | Shows rewarded ads to people without Emigo Gold on Android, and confirms to our server that an ad was completed. |
| Email delivery provider | When you submit a report about another account, sends an internal alert (containing the reporter's and reported account's name, username and email) so a person can review it. |
| Cloud hosting and database providers | Operate the servers and databases that store your account information securely. |
We may also disclose information where required by law, or where necessary to investigate suspected abuse or protect the safety of our users.
We do not sell personal data. The only sharing connected to advertising is with Google AdMob, as described under Advertising.
Advertising
On Android, people who do not have Emigo Gold can choose to watch short rewarded ads to unlock certain features: restoring a broken streak, or sending a moment from their gallery. Watching is always your choice, and Emigo Gold members never see or load ads. Ads are provided by Google AdMob.
- What Google collects. When an ad is requested, Google may collect and use your device's advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and an approximate location derived from your IP address, to choose and show ads, measure them and prevent fraud. Emigo does not receive your advertising ID. See how Google uses data in advertising and Google's Privacy Policy.
- What we send to Google. So that our server can confirm you really watched the ad, Emigo passes an internal account identifier (not your name or email) and the identifier of the friendship involved to Google with the ad. Google reports back to our server that the ad was completed.
- Your choice in Europe. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for your choice before any ad is requested. You can change or withdraw it at any time at Settings → Other → Privacy settings. If you do not consent, personalised ads are not used, and where that means no ad can be shown, you can get Emigo Gold instead.
- Your device controls. You can reset your advertising ID, or opt out of ad personalisation, in your Android settings (Settings → Google → Ads).
Invite links
When you share Emigo, the invite is a link to a page on emigo.live that names the person who invited you and sends you to Google Play. That page does not set cookies or use analytics. If you open Emigo for the first time after installing it from such a link, Google Play tells the app which Emigo username the link was for. Emigo uses it once, to offer to add that person as a friend, and then forgets it. Nothing else from the link is collected.
Data retention
- Photos in your feed are automatically removed approximately 24 hours after being sent, unless the recipient saves them to Memories.
- Photos saved to Memories are retained until the person who saved them deletes them, or deletes their account.
- Account information is retained for as long as your account remains active.
- IP addresses used for abuse prevention are not stored long-term.
- Records of watched ads (used only to confirm a streak restore) are deleted after about 7 days.
Deleting specific data without deleting your account
You do not need to delete your whole account to remove specific content. From within the Emigo app you can, at any time:
- Delete a sent photo — open the photo and choose delete. This removes it permanently from our servers and from anyone it was sent to; it is not recoverable.
- Remove a friend — this ends that friendship and stops any further photos being exchanged with them, without affecting your account or other friendships.
- Block a user — prevents them from contacting you or seeing your activity, without deleting your account.
If you'd like us to delete a specific piece of data on your behalf and cannot do so from within the app, email emigohq@gmail.com from your registered address describing what to remove — we will action it within a reasonable time and confirm once done.
Deleting your account
You may permanently delete your Emigo account at any time from within the app:
Settings → Other → Delete account
Deleting your account removes your profile, photos, friendships, streaks, and notification tokens from our systems. This action cannot be undone. If you are unable to access the app, email emigohq@gmail.com from your registered address and we will delete your account on your behalf.
Deleting your account does not automatically cancel an active Emigo Gold subscription. Subscriptions are managed through Google Play and must be cancelled from the Play Store's subscription settings.
Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct your name, username, email address, or profile photo from within the app.
- Delete your account and associated data, as described above.
- Withdraw camera or notification permissions at any time through your device settings.
- Change or withdraw your advertising consent (where it applies) at Settings → Other → Privacy settings.
- Object to certain uses of your data, or request that we restrict processing.
These rights may be available to you under applicable laws such as India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email address above. We aim to respond within 30 days.
Security
Data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using HTTPS. Passwords are stored only as salted cryptographic hashes, and access to production systems is restricted to authorized personnel. While no system can be guaranteed completely secure, we take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information, and we will notify affected users in the event of a data breach that poses a risk to their personal data.
Children's privacy
Emigo is not directed at children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us so that we may remove it.
Standards against child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE)
Emigo has zero tolerance for child sexual abuse material (CSAM) and child sexual exploitation of any kind. Any account found to be creating, sharing, soliciting, or otherwise engaging in this conduct will be permanently removed, and any content will be preserved and reported as described below.
Reporting. Any user can report another account or a specific photo directly within the app — open the person's profile or the photo and choose Report. Reports are reviewed, and the reported account may be blocked or removed as a result. You can also block a user at any time to immediately stop them from contacting you.
Escalation to authorities. Where we identify or are made aware of apparent CSAM, we remove the content and account and report it to the relevant national authority — in the United States, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) CyberTipline at report.cybertip.org — and to law enforcement where required by applicable law.
Designated point of contact. For questions about these standards or to report a concern directly, contact emigohq@gmail.com. This address is monitored by a person able to speak to Emigo's CSAM prevention practices and compliance.
International data transfers
Our service providers may process and store information on servers located outside your country of residence. Where this occurs, we rely on those providers' contractual and technical safeguards to ensure your data remains protected in accordance with this policy.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you within the app.
